Is your Roofing Felt compromised, and do you have moisture in your loft?
To offer an extra layer of waterproofing behind the tiles or slates, roofing felt was developed in the 1930s, followed by breathable coverings in the 1980s. A little amount of damage may be repaired relatively affordably. If the devastation is significant and the roof is leaky, it is usually an indication that there are additional issues with the roof.
Other issues emerged with the advent of impervious roofing felt in the 1930s. If water becomes trapped in the roof space and there is inadequate air to remove it, it condenses on the felt and drops into the roof space floor, causing wet spots to develop on the ceiling or walls of the level below. A roof ventilator can be built to alleviate this problem, or the roofing felt can be replaced with a permeable membrane that enables water to evaporate.
